My PhD focused on investigating executive function impairments and the potential comorbidity between ADHD and stuttering. I adopted an innovative, interdisciplinary approach, combining behavioural experiments with virtual reality (VR) paradigms, eye-tracking, and EEG-based network modelling to examine attention, working memory, and cognitive control in these populations. My research aimed to determine whether the two conditions share underlying mechanisms, and the findings suggested that, although there are some overlapping features, ADHD and stuttering are characterised by distinct cognitive and neural profiles particularly in relation to attention and impulsivity. This work contributes to a more nuanced understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and supports more precise approaches to assessment and intervention.
